ALICE BROWN

While raising 4 kids (and later enjoying 7 grandkids), I always loved exploring various kinds of art, from ceramics and quilting, to painting furniture and murals. In the early 90's I began taking classes and workshops, initially working with pastels, charcoal, and acrylics, but eventually focusing on oils. My favorite subjects are the blond hills in my home state of California, farmland, palm trees, and the ocean. Favorite locations include Hawaii, the Monterey Peninsula, and Central/South America.

I love color. I am always looking for the lights, shadows, and patterns that make up a good composition. I prefer to paint outdoors on location, and then I usually finish the work in my studio.

Most importantly, I love the process of painting. It puts you in another world, if only for a few hours.
